AREVA's activities in the UK

AREVA benefits from a historical presence in the UK, dating back 30 years, working with the UK Nuclear Industry across the entire nuclear cycle. The group plays also a key role in supporting the UK in developing its renewable base through Adwen, its JV established with partner Gamesa.

Sellafield nuclear site

Located in West Cumbria, the Sellafield site has been operational since the 1940’s, when it was used as a Royal Ordnance factory supporting the war effort. The site is also home to the world’s first commercial nuclear power station – Calder Hall, which generated electricity from 1956 to 2003.

Addressing UK's Pu stockpile

Compared to direct disposal, reprocessing the stockpile into Mixed Oxide (MOX) fuel is the best value for the UK in the long term and is the Government’s preferred solution.

Hinkley Point C

AREVA has been selected to supply the Steam Supply System for two EPR™s at the Hinkley Point C nuclear power plant in Somerset.
